Just finished the original George A. Romero (aka the original) version of The Crazies.
How awesome is this poster?
The film is about a small town that has been contaminated by a chemical agent from a downed government airplane. The chemical causes those infected to go, you guessed it, crazy and go on violent rampages. On one hand, there is the military that is going to every length to ensure that the chemical doesn't spread past the town's border. But on the other, you have the townspeople, who are just trying to survive both the plague, the military, and...the Crazies!
The movie itself is a madhouse, a madhouse. Romero clearly doesn't care much for dubbing, as every time one of the soldiers in the NBC suits talk, it reminds me of the adults in the Peanuts cartoons. The film, which may be based on infection, is quite different than the better known Romero "...of the Dead" series. Not to worry, though: his early trademark bright red paint-like fake blood is in full effect. Still unsure if I liked it or not, but I heard that the 2010 remake was much better. I'm looking forward to seeing it.
Just found a way it could have been even better...er.
Best Part:
Firefighter David's karate chop to the neck.
